Teams like St. Mary's, South Alabama, Illinois State, (and potentially) Kent State are very happy today.

Ole Miss lost to a lousy Georgia team, which finished last in the SEC East, so the Rebels have no shot.

It was, indeed, a good day for the mid-majors.

South Alabama losing also ate up an at-large bid.

USA is headed to the NIT... no way the NCAA gives a Sunbelt team an at-large, in favor of a major.

I don't think it's quite that cut and dried. South Al has a good profile and a very strong RPI. They're in better shape than Illinois State or VCU as non-lock mid-majors go, and yesterday's bubble implosion really helps them.

Whenever this comes up, I always think of the piece Pat Forde did on being part of a 'mock selection committee'.

Had this discussion with a friend of mine who goes to Western Kentucky.

All year long people were saying there was no way Western and USA both get in unless WKU won the SBC and got the auto bid. Now that WKU has won it, I don't see how the SBC can get two in.

I'd rather listen to the bitching from the screwed (Hi! BYH) than listen to the pre-screwed speculation.
Given that, I'd rather see a 22-7 mid-major than an 18-13 major. Doesn't mean I'm right, just personal prejudice.

    How about a 24-7 mid-major?

X is losing by 10 at half to St. Joe's. Killing me, homes, killing me.
