I'll check it out... I love Tina Fey and this is the kind of place where Baldwin could excel, but I'm not overly optimistic...

Of movies that have come out during the last 15 or so years, my favorite "speech scenes" are

Dennis Hopper: Sicilians are Nigg$$$ from True Romance
Gary Oldman: White Boy Day from True Romance
Alec Baldwin: Coffee is for Closers from Glengarry Glen Ross...

Baldwin is a very funny guy.

He could be this show's Shatner.

They have the premiere episode up at nbc.com for your viewing pleasure.

I didn't have high hopes for it, but I gotta say ...

pretty, pretty, pretty ... good [/larrydavid]

Some good laughs. Baldwin is great. And Tracy Morgan isn't THAT horrible.

Actually, you're agreeing with me. I was saying that Fey presiding over a dreary period for SNL does not bode well for this show.

  7. Baldwin is central to the two greatest SNL skits of the past 15 years: Canteen Boy and Pete Schweddy on the NPR cooking show.
No surprise that he's going to steal this one.

I thought Fey did a great job writing Mean Girls.

...Just watched a 5-minute clip of '30 Rock' on nbc.com and laughed out loud 5 times. ;D

Potentially... This is a show that gets the comic insanity that is television.

I'm sold enough to Tivo the premiere.

no doubt Fey has talent and a very mysterious sex appeal. Clearly she made a Mephistophelian deal back in Charlottesville.

YIKES!!!!!! Not even with spaceman's dick .......

"Yeah, we miss the glasses too." It's interesting to note she was without glasses the entire ep of 30 Rock. *sniff, sniff*

Honestly, he steals a chunk of The Departed, too.

He's had a career resurgence since he split with Veronica Lake.

Just watched the show... The first episode clearly sets the table for the rest of the season.

Baldwin is very good. Fey is solid. Morgan is much funnier than I thought, although I'm sure this show will be sued very quickly by Martin Lawrence...

It's a solid B. Better than I thought it would be.
