Bollocks. I'm going to pretend it isn't happening and have a nice cuppa. P'r'aps a currant scone as well.

    AUTUMN ALMANAC
    also by The Kinks

From the dew-soaked hedge creeps a crawly caterpillar,
When the dawn begins to crack.
Its all part of my autumn almanac.
Breeze blows leaves of a musty-coloured yellow,
So I sweep them in my sack.
Yes, yes, yes, its my autumn almanac.

    Friday evenings, people get together,
    Hiding from the weather.
Tea and toasted, buttered currant buns
Help to compensate for lack of sun,
    Because the summer's all gone.

    La-la-la-la...
    Oh, my poor rheumatic back
Yes, yes, yes, its my autumn almanac.
    La-la-la-la...
    Oh, my autumn almanac
Yes, yes, yes, its my autumn almanac.

I like my football on a Saturday,
Roast beef on Sundays, all right.
I go to Blackpool for my holidays,
    Sit in the open sunlight.

This is my street, and I'm never gonna to leave it,
And I'm always gonna to stay here
If I live to be ninety-nine,
cause all the people I meet
Seem to come from my street
    And I cant get away,
Because its calling me, (come on home)
Hear it calling me, (come on home)

    La-la-la-la...
    Oh, my autumn almanac
Yes, yes, yes, its my autumn almanac.
    La-la-la-la...
    Oh, my autumn almanac
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Hey! Don't accuse Zagoshe of taking things out of context. He hates when that happens. Just look at his defense of Rush and the Bible. It is all about context and Zagoshe would never ever attempt to insinuate or alter the context of what anyone would write.

Does it say anything about the state of a country when they are designing bullet-proof backpacks?

    Australia or New Zealand.
    Or perhaps Belize.

Yes. Yes it does. As long as that country isn't America.

    Oops.

Don't go to Belize City; it's a dump and crime-ridden. One of the coastal towns would be better. Besides, unless you're an archaeologist or have some particular interest in the communities of the interior, there isn't much point in being inland in Belize.

Belize, in general, is definitely a work in progress.

Head to one of the cays or down south to Placencia.

Fly to Belize City, then go by smaller plane to Ramon's Reef Resort - Ambergris Caye.
    On sunny San Pedro Island.
Great diving on the barrier reef there. Was fortunate to go on several family trips as a kid.
My brother now has a condo there. Need to go check it out for myself again.
    Stuck here in Europe.
And Zag .., ah, forget it.

I'll just say that no country anywhere, that I know about, offers the standard of living and opportunities that the U.S. does.

Thanks, Hb. Some of the posts on this thread made me feel I'd stumbled back into Michael Savage-ville, where all the villagers are infected with whining crankeritis.

  11. Come on, people.
    Get with the real stuff.

Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
    Flowing into the night
People so busy, makes me feel dizzy
    Taxi light shines so bright
But I dont need no friends
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
    I am in paradise

Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
    Waterloo sunsets fine

    Terry meets julie, waterloo station
    Every friday night
But I am so lazy, dont want to wander
I stay at home at night
    But I dont feel afraid
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
    I am in paradise

Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
    Waterloo sunsets fine

Millions of people swarming like flies round waterloo underground
But terry and julie cross over the river
Where they feel safe and sound
And the dont need no friends
As long as they gaze on waterloo sunset
    They are in paradise

    Waterloo sunsets fine
