No, I think the White House leaked reports that Bush woke up this morning which the market diving, only to be revived on news that Cheney was also alive.

I have no plans to leave 'Murrica. I did live in Latin America briefly, twice- eight months in the Dominican Republic and five months in Mexico. The best thing about both sojourns was that I didn't have a car and only had occasion to drive about three or four times during each instance. I hate paying for a fucking car and I hate driving. So if I did ever leave the US of A, it'd be for a big city where I could be carless without having that be a problem.

    This makes me sad.

There's still lots of good in the world, Yawn. Stay gold.

I was thinking more of a young Diane Lane playing a character named "Cherry", but OK.

    Yawn, this is for you:

    Nature's first green is gold,
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf's a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.

    Wrong movie.

Think of a young Matt Dillon, gigantic-forehead-as-yet-unlined and turned away from the camera, laying in a hospital bed, holding a switchblade and yelling:

"We'll do it for Johnny, man! We'll do it for Johnny!"

Yes, things will get really bad soon. We all did it. The poor will be the first victims especially those with tenuous food supplies. It has already hit America most just haven't realized it yet. This is not something that comes with a thud and fire it comes slowly like cancer. Like cancer the key is an early diagnosis unfortunately we are past that. Go for the Chemo that has little chance for success or live the last pain free?

They are opening a power plant every week and starting to dominate steel production. Their infrastructure is developing rapidly.

I give them about 20 years before they decide to take us on in a war. We just need to elect some leaders that do not alienate us from the rest of the world when it happens.

That, and give national defense contracts to the firms that can get the job done.

    CATCH ME NOW I'M FALLING
    The Kinks

    remember, when you were down
And you needed a helping hand
    I came to feed you
But now that I need you
You won't give me a second glance
Now I'm calling all citizens from all over the world
    This is Captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I'm falling

Help me now I'm calling you
    Catch me now I'm falling
I'm in your hands, it's up to you
    Catch me now I'm falling

I remember when you were down
You would always come running to me
I never denied you and I would guide you
    Through all of your difficulties
Now I'm calling all citizens from all over the world
    This is Captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I'm falling

Help me now I'm calling you
    Catch me now I'm falling
I'm in your hands, it's up to you
    Catch me now I'm falling

When you were broke you would come to me
And I would always pull you round
Now I call your office on the telephone
And your secretary tells me that she's sorry,
But, you've gone out of town.

    This is Captain America calling

    Catch me now I'm falling
    Catch me now I'm falling
    Catch me now I'm falling
    Catch me now I'm falling

I stood by you through all of your depressions
And I lifted you when you were down
Now it's your chance to do the same for me
I call your office and your secretary tells me
That you've gone out of town

    This is Captain America calling
    This is Captain America calling

    Catch me now I'm falling
    Catch me now I'm falling

I was the one who always bailed you out
Of your depressions and your difficulties
I never thought that you would let me down
But the next time you're in trouble
Better not come running to me

Now I'm calling all citizens from all over the world
    This is Captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I'm falling
