I grew up on the West Coast and only have been to through San Francisco a handful of times. if i were to take mrs. petty to sf for a weekend getaway, what should we do?

Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. (Yes, there's a sidewalk). Stunningly beautiful, and free too.

As far as SF, well, I haven't been there in a long time so I can't suggest anything, but I loved Alcatraz and Fisherman's Warf and the Golden Gate Bridge - which scared the shit out of me, to be honest. It is a very, very cool city.
