I logged on today, and had a new friend recommendation. Some of you may know him, a certain Lucas Wiseman.

Here's the thing: I don't have any friends in common with our evil friendly overlord. Not one.

    HOW DOES IT KNOW?!

    Did you take the recommendation?

I was recommended to become friends with someone with the exact same name as me whom I don't know.

Yeah, I've had Webby pop up once. I think it's a question of you're friends with certain people, they're all friends with other certain people, so the computer is following the algorithm to a conclusion that you might also know some of their friends.

You might be in the same networks, went to the same school, live in the same neighborhood. FB has several methods with which it uses to recommend friends.

It needs to account for the fact that knowing me is negatively correlated with being my friend.

I think it has more to do with email addresses.

I got an invite too, and there's nothing we have in common network-wise.

It hasn't suggested me as a friend, has it? Because then, you know, I'd have to ground you more than I already do. ;)

It actually suggested we become BFF.

That's only because the All-Knowing, All-Seeing Facebook figured out we're Twins fans.
