Sorry, Boom, that's misguided. I'm not going around and around with some book peddler (whose meanderings obscure, perhaps even to him, the fact that he's proffering both P and not-P), but there is absolutely no way that the price of oil was manipulated to that degree. No way. This is a position held across the spectrum. Even Krugman has dismissed it as nonsense.

Fair enough. I'll hang up and listen to you to academics debate it. Pass the popcorn. ;):D

I thought the Bush family personally manipulated word oil prices for political gain, simply through placing a phone call to the Saudi Royals.

    Is this not true?

He must have Google alerts set up for every mention of his name. Probably defending himself over at a knitting message board as we speak.

The guy on the left wants to know, "WTF, Florida State over TCU? Are you crazy?"

I don't know, but when I go get gas I don't ask myself how much the gas tax is here. (I know already but it's never top of mind.)

With prices at five-year lows, now is the best time politically to raise rates with the least amount of pain. Our highways are crumbling and at overcapacity. They're not fixing themselves.

State tax or federal tax, now that's an argument that can be had later.

You know how much you're paying in taxes per gallon?

Put your best guess in your next post, and then go online and check if you are right.
