Thank You For Smoking is outstanding. Best movie I've seen this summer. No talking cars, of course, and I actually thought Katie Holmes did well.

The Shotglass Ratings, updated through tonight:

Thank You For Smoking: A. Very smart, well-acted, hilarious.

The Break-Up: B-. But better than most reviewers said. There's a reason Vince Vaughn keeps getting big roles.

The Prairie Home Companion: B-. A bit less than most reviewers said. Nice painting of a picture, but no real storyline. And people who have been trying to attach a political significance to it are trying too hard.

Art School Confidential: C. Promising beginnings faded.

Lucky Number Slevin: B. Again, better than reviews. Great plot twists.

I'm going to see a premiere showing of "Click" on Wednesday night. Two comedies which I can't wait to see next month: "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" (Luke Wilson, Uma Thurman) and "Little Miss Sunshine" (Greg Kinnear, Steve Carrell, Toni Collette, Alan Arkin).

And an alert: The "Strangers With Candy" movie is coming out in two weeks ... in limited release.

That is a must-see. SWC was brilliant because it was so deadpan, yet over-the-top.

Colbert and Dinello are back for it with Sedaris ... joined by Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Broderick.

Thank you for Smoking- Best movie so far. I agree 100%. I also liked V for Vendetta, and I thought the Break-Up sucked.

Cars was fun. Visually stunning at times. Otherwise, pretty ho-hum summer.

V for Vendetta is a summer movie? Where? Australia?
