He called with what turned out to be Qs and 7s; he assumed he had the best hand, but he didn't. Of course, one card later, he did.

Had the same thing happen to me in a limit ring game yesterday 7-8c in my hand, 7-8-8 on the flop. A nine of diamonds came off on the river, meaning I got paid off big by a straight and a flush.

That is the best thing. When you get paid off when a flop hits the other guy when you have a stone cold nuts hand. Had that happen the other day when I was in the big blind and had a 10-7. Got the boat on the turn and a flush draw hit on the river. Of course the guy I put out flopped a straight and the other guy got a straight on the river. I cleaned up but didn't make the final table because of my own fuckups.

The race is underway! We have a HORSE-like small field of 10 teams aiming for the prize of SportsJournalists.com WSOP champion. No more teams accepted.

Big_Dog, Jim Tom Pinch, The Good Doctor, Inky_Wretch, Ty Webb, Cape_Fear, CentralIllinoisan, GB-Hack, Tommy_Dreamer and pallister.

The 50K HORSE event is underway and there are 148 players this year .. fewer than I anticipated, considering the two major satellites the WSOP held for it. Check out worldseriesofpoker.com for updates ... there are some tables stacked with pros, obviously. Glad to see ESPN say it'll be devoting multiple days to airing this.

I won the SportsJournalists.com online tournament so I'm hoping for a fantasy bracelet to go with it.

    Suggested team names....

"Sorry, we don't get to Steinbrenner until the third year."

"Fuck you and your never ending string of boats"

"Women are the rake, the fucking rake."

and (of course) my personal favorite....

"You know, Zagoshe, why don't you get a job before you try to become my fucking PO.."
