Off-color team nicknames in youth sports

    You will find this really odd.

    I had been teaching for years in Connecticut, and I taught about the different theories of immigration -- "Tossed Salas" vs. "Melting Pot."

    When I moved to the North Shore of the Massachusetts, I used that phrase, and my kids howled and had to explain it to.

    Back in the 70s, at UR of I, "Nads" was a popular intramural team nickname, so fans could chant "Go Nads!"

    The Nads won our intramural league three years in a row.
