We've been given the green light to hire another sports reporter to fill out the staff here at the Odessa American and are looking to make a quick hire to get things in place for our summer coverage and heading into the football practices that will be here before you know it in August.

If you applied for the previous openings and are still interested, please sent me an email at lscheide@oaoa.com. If you haven't applied, send your resume and clips to the same email address by Monday, May 7, 2018.

Below is a copy of the previous ad for writers and everything still applies.

    Thanks,

    Lee Scheide

Social media savvy sports reporter needed for the busy Odessa, Texas, sports scene. Reporter will cover news and feature stories as well as post to Twitter, Facebook and our website. Located in the busy sports town of Odessa (home of Friday Night Lights), the OA is a West Texas Daily situated in a sports crazy area.

Applicants will need a bachelor's degree and one to two years experience, along with an ability to multi-task several assignments during the week, delivering quick, clean stories on deadline. If you have past design experience, with Quark or InDesign, that's a bonus, but not required, as we no longer build pages in house. Also, earlier deadlines have presented us with the welcome challenge of having to present the stories in different ways, both in the print and digital versions of the paper. Send a resume, with references and clips, to Sports Editor Lee Scheide at lscheide@oaoa.com. Drug screening and background check are required.

    "Welcome challenge."

How much blue could a blue font be if a blue font could get bluer?
