So, do y'all normally get aroused at staff meetings and run to toilet to rub one out?

That's where I land, but I'm curious what others think.

Toobin might be the most recognizable star the magazine has.

The New Yorker has perhaps done the best job of keeping The New Yorker as the star above its individual writers.

Wait. Other people get up from in front of the camera and run to the toilet to do it?

    Toobin must be fired.

Ethics 101: Keep your pants on while the cam's on.

    azrael-
I think what has amounted to the largest shared experience in world history is starting to drive people mad. Someone who does this is clearly not in a good place mentally.

Suspend him indefinitely, ask him to seek treatment.

While I don't discount the mental health effects of living through the pandemic, I am skeptical of the notion that it's causing people to cross this kind of line without there being some sort of poor behavior already in place.

I find it more likely that the situation is more likely to amplify already existing behavior. Alcohol consumption increases significantly for those who already were having a beer or two after work or met for cocktails regularly. Smoking increases as a way to deal with everything. Depression and anxiety that were there quietly in the background are now at the forefront.

And, yes, porn consumption has likely increased, too.

But that's a far leap to whipping it out on a Zoom call. It's not the accidental camera on while multitasking and getting a shower while listening to a boring meeting. This was a participatory call in which he was supposed to play an active role.

He may very need to seek treatment, but it's likely for an underlying issue that was already there before the pandemic and has now blurred the lines completely.

I agree with all of that.

I don't want to speculate on his problem. Carbon-based beings do dumb things. This was cartoonishly bad, and done in a quasi-professional environment.

Make him earn his job back, whatever that might entail. He obviously has lust issues for co-workers.

Toobin has a history of being a creep.

This is just the first time he's been ... exposed.
