    OM god.
These higher ups are all a bunch of clowns. Somebody should write a book about the
pieces of shit that ruined newspapers. This guy is one of 'em.

Forget a book. Someone should write a manuscript about the pieces of shit that ruined newspapers and post it online somewhere for free.

    Then call it performance art.

FYI --- Those of us hacked by Freedom's East Valley Tribune recently who were supposed to be paid severence bi-weekly (two weeks for every year) got a letter Friday letting us know they have now decided to pay the full lump sum within seven days. Something's up, folks. :p

Adjust your tax deductions. You'll get hammered with lump sum payments.

At least it's early in the calendar year, so it doesn't shift any 2010 income into 2009 (ha, they should be so lucky, huh?). As it is, the withholding is always greater on lump sums, on a percentage basis, but unless it moves extra income into the current year, you should get things back to normal via a tax refund.

Could use some further info on the withholdling angle ... the lump check will be about 30K ... they said it will be taxed as "supplementary" income" ... I'm all ears ..
