Read the story, and I instantly I had this image of Whitlock standing in the on-deck circle, swinging a pair of bats and adjusting his batting gloves...

That's when his "armpits weren't sweating" as Stringer, Etan Thomas and other laid into him, as Wojo wrote. :D

Funny, because I instantly had this image from Field of Reams -- the one of the doped-up porn chick who looks a little like Whitlock taking the barrel of a Louisville Slugger up her cram hole.

Thought the same thing. The words "hol-ee shee-yaht" slowly poured out of my mouth.

"We need to step on each other's heads to get the little piece of the American dream. It became green. It was power. You [Whitlock] understand that. That's the reason why you chose these few minutes to get your one moment of [fame]. Because other than that, who knows Jason Whitlock?"

Awesome. Say what you want, Whitlock, but you were the real opportunist in that one.

That being said, I think Whitlock, with his numerous PTI, Sports reporters and Rome is Burning appearences in the past, was better known than Stringer before thie Imus incident.

Seems like a little more grandstanding and downtalking from her.

Whitlock aside, that was a really good column by Gene. Made me feel the excitement in the room.
