There's some irony there, now that I think about it. John Wayne, playing an ex-pro boxer who had been a challenger for the heavyweight title, fought Victor McLaglen, playing an amateur tough guy-country brawler. But in real life, it was McLaglen who had actually been in the ring against a champion.

Since this weekend marks 20 years since David Duval's final round 59 at The Desert Classic......

Who was he paired with in the final round?

Jeff Kemp is No. 3 at 6,230 yards.

No. 4 is Marty Domres, 4,904.

Fitz has 29,357. Fiedler had 11,844.

    Jim Otto?

Just checked. Nevermind. That's a great question. I doubt I'd ever have gotten it

The answers are Al Davis and Buffalo Bills guard Billy Shaw.
Davis was, of course, voted in more on his accomplishments as an owner but did coach the Raiders for three seasons in the early AFL days.
Shaw played for the Bills from 1961-69. He retired the year before the merger, making him the only Hall of Famer to play his entire career in the AFL (or any league other than the NFL, for that matter).

Ah. Wasn't going to come up with Shaw anytime soon.

Yeah, he's not exactly a household name and it's going on 20 years since his induction so it's not fresh in anyone's mind. I've done a couple of stories on him is the main reason I know it.

Should have gotten that one. No. 66 for the great Bills teams of 64-66.

Joe Carr? In as a commissioner, but was a coach in the pre-nfl days for about a decade.

Good catch. Missed him in scanning the list to see if there was anyone besides Shaw and Davis.
