Brooks Robinson? Or Al Kaline? Perennial AL reps when the AL lost almost every year.

How did Ted "The Mad Stork" Hendricks not get in the title? That whole bunch of crazies was the antithesis of the Dolphins, which shows how teams can mirror the personalities of their coaches.

He was relatively calm compared to his colleagues. He cones up for little mention. Guessing he was more eccentric than psychotic.

Years ago Dr. Z did a story on the Raiders Super Bowl against the Eagles in New Orleans and he quoted one player as saying at their first practice after winning the AFC they only had something like 20 players there. Some guys were in Peru.

I will also recommend the Richmond book. Great stuff.

Madden had a fun story in, I think it was his first book, where he was taking attendance for a team meeting, and one of the assistants interrupted him, telling him he had an important call. Madden went to the phone, picked it up, and heard “Hendricks.” It was the Stork, checking in to the meeting.

People forget hendrick’s other nickname was “kick em in the head, Ted.” Given after assaulting another raider during practice. He later tried to choke Marc Wilson. Next he taped a football to Marcus Allen after some fumbling incidents.

nope. A defender but generally not name worthy. It was in the one game which we both won and conceded in 2002.

Carlos Bocanegra. Just because it's a cool name.
