The Obamas are fighting back against the rumor mill with a new website, Chicago's WBBM AM 780 is reporting.

Web site is falling behind, then.

Latest rumor is that Obama refuses to make his birth certificate public because he was born in Kenya.

  3. Typical GOP dirty tricks, right out of the Nixon archives. Repeat the big lie enough, and people think you can't make up something that over the top.

And we in the media play right into their hands by reporting the rumor. How about if we investigated first to determine whether there was anything to the story before running anything? Or does that take too much effort -- or ethics?

The sad part of the Obama is Muslim smear is that these people are denigrating all Muslims, as if being part of the religion is wrong in principle. There's more Muslims in the world than any other religion, how many are terrorists, abusers, etc? Very few. How many of these people who proffer such slurs have Muslim doctors, grocers, etc? Very shameful.

  6. They're going to put that on there too.

  7. Actually, I would have guessed there were more Buddhists, but this site says Christians are the biggest group.

I stand corrected. Either way, it's a big friggin' religion, and 9/11 and its aftershocks have basically given people (mostly the ill-informed or right-wing) carte blanche to lump them into one group. I know NPR is doing a year-long piece on being Muslim in America (I once worked with the reporter doing it). should be interesting.

By the way, Obama has now posted a copy of his birth certificate proving he was born in Honolulu.

I hope everybody feels better now.

It's a lot easier taking pictures of puppies than it is investigating politicians' charges. Plus, the longer it takes to investigate, the less column inches a reporter is writing to fill his quota.
