NYT: Legalize Marijuana

    Nice to see the Times catching up to the editorial board of National Review, which has called for legalization/decriminalization of marijuana on a number of occasions:

    And, of course the founder of NR, and to some degree the modern Conservative movement, called for the same 18 years ago:

    They tried to ban alcohol about 100 years ago. We saw how well that worked.

    Eh, whatever. These arguments have been around since before I was born. Is there anything really new on the table?

    I don't have strong feelings on it one way or another. Tobacco is legal, but that doesn't mean I smoke it.

    Well, other than the fact it's been being voted on around the country more and more, nope. Nothing new on the table. I don't smoke, but it just seems stupid that pot is not treated like alcohol, which I do partake in but I believe is far more destructive. It's a waste of resources to try to stop it. I get the argument that it's a gateway drug, but I don't believe it is.
