At the end of the day, they don't have enough people willing to go to get arrested "for the cause".

And, for a civil disobedience campaign to be effective, that's what you need.

During the actual civil rights campaign, people were willing to go to jail. Al Sharpton was able to round up people willing to go to jail to protest the Amadou Diallo shooting.

    OWS can't keep it up.

I also saw one guy who left the park/plaza on Monday night/Tuesday morning before the arrests began, quoted in a story. He said he, "couldn't get arrested."

Well, yeah. If you have outstanding warrants, you can't afford to get arrested. Wonder how many folks are held back by this concern.

An employment system that treats minor criminal convictions like scarlet letters doesn't help either. A fact conveniently overlooked by the "get a job!" crowd.

Corporatist media doing a great job of sitting on this one. The boys in the boardrooms don't want this to spread.

Not at all passionate about it. Simply reporting it, and commenting upon it the reports.

Actually, I think OWS can't be stopped. It's a nationwide movement, spawning hundreds of similar gatherings. For every person at one of these things there are 50 more who are there in spirit. People are just waking up.

They need to hire Karl Rove or Bill Ayers to put some structure to it.

Ah, but that's the tactical and strategic beauty of it. There is no structure. There's no leadership. That's why there's no one for authorities to "negotiate" with. It's formless, and becomes whatever people decide it is.

Really fascinating from a social activism point of view.

It's a blessing and a curse, because it could go in a direction many don't want it to go.

Or the Koch Bros. The Tea Party had much better funding.
