This is kind of like the end of the Dirty Dozen. I really wanted Jefferson to make it. I now really want Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey to make it. Pujols not so much.

I imagine the Peavy thread destroys my credibility here, but ... I suspect you're going to be waiting a long, long time for Frank Thomas to join the club.

The one where Waylon said Peavy was a wuss because he had blocked a trade to the ChiSox.

For everyone who is rolling their eyes and saying, "No, shit," you should know that a couple weeks ago, the Chicago Tribune had all of its BBWAA guys write about whether they would elect Sosa to the HOF. A nice number said yes, he would, because, circumstantial evidence be damned, Sosa had never been caught or connected to this stuff.

So as obvious as it is ... getting the actual story still really, really matters.

Nice job, NYT. Take a bow.

Obviously I'm less broken up about those developments in light of subsequent events.

Aren't the Yankees on his "approval" list as well? Damn glad that didn't happen, either.

Besides, he proved you right. The wuss only managed three starts with a torn tendon in his ankle that might require surgery. A real tough guy would have lasted a least another month, dammit! :)

I agree with you on Thomas, though I'm not sure we can be surprised by anybody at this point.
