In fairness you also have to talk about all the jobs that he created. For example Bain invested in Staples when they were one store.

Don't see how "fairness" requires that. Again, that Romney used a different strategy that created jobs has nothing to do with his decision to use a strategy some would consider detrimental to society.

But what if his actions saved the business and kept some jobs?

Then one could debate the merits of that versus the cost of employing the strategy at other businesses. One would also consider the broader impact his advocating this strategy had on the structure of the American economy and the way it changed how people viewed the nature of employment in this country.

But I still fail to see what that has to do with an entirely different strategy he used when investing in Staples at its founding. And even if some of the strategies had similar themes, we might still think he might have created more jobs or a better working environment in the absence of imposing all of them.

No. Someone else dug the company out of Chapter 11 and sold it for seven billion. Let's not leave out the trip through Chapter 11. I bet there was some suffering when that happened.

Much like what is going on at Solyndra right now.

And how much in bonus money did he collect for "saving the business", which, when you think about it, is his job?

Another variation on the Golden Rule:

It's a damn sight easier to make money if you're not fussy about how you make it.
