The Mets sound like big babies just play baseball and STFU.

Like these sports don't have 1000 other commemorative patches and plaques and everything else from floods to boobs.

At some point, it all just becomes white noise.

What does wearing an NYPD or NYFD hat do? It shows you're willing to do anything in an attempt to not be seen as a spoiled prick athlete.

Can't believe I'm about to type this but MLB is right on this one.

The league - and ALL the teams (including the Mets) - agreed to wear the same commemorative cap on 9/11.

The time to bring up the idea of wearing NYPD/FDNY hats was when the plans for commemorating 9/11 were being discussed in the first place. That said, I wonder what the decision would have been if the other New York team asked to do this.

I certainly understand the PR hit they're taking on this but that doesn't mean Bud & Co. is wrong this time.

I will now light myself on fire for typing that.

Dibs on the first cap honoring the department that extinguishes Armchair.

I agree with Armchair. Note to Mets: you are just one member of a very large business. You don't get to dictate corporate policy from your cubicle.

Anyone have a pic of how MLB commemorated boobs?

Selig and Torre now denying they told the Mets they couldn't wear the hats, according to the NY Post:

Looks like a couple of people are trying to cover their asses.

This is the dumbest controversy ever.

In a way, I suppose you can say the terrorists didn't win, because we're free as Americans to make a controversy out of a baseball cap.

    Up yours bin Laden!
