    Sadly the NYP has only later edition back page on their site. Their early edition headline was a keeper ;

    NUMBNUTS

    with a picture of of Jordan Valdespin lying face down at home plate after getting KOed by a 94 mph Verlander fast ball ....

    This dumb shit is playing 2nd base for a Major League Baseball team and is not wearing a cup.

    I don't go to the grocery store without wearing a cup.

    I was surprised when I covered a high school wrestling meet and realized that the wrestlers don't wear cups.

    I should have wrestled. I would have been unbeaten with my double squeeze takedown.

    I guess Verlander did not like the first inning HR trot.

    The big question is, did Valdespin end up crawling back to the dugout and vomiting?

    Verlander's answers about it are priceless. From Matt Mowery with The Oakland Press:

    Photo of the year, right there. All that's missing is the straight lines to indicate the ball's trajectory, like Charles Schulz used to do for the comebackers that undressed Charlie Brown.
