More like the US created ISIS by being mean to non-terrorists. The invasion that opened the door to ISIS wasn't aimed at the terrorists.

There hasn't been a stable Iraq since Saddam Hussein was in power.

We destabilized a regime that was one of three countries we called the "Axis of Evil". Remember that little useless slogan? They were another one of the three countries listed , and they were right next door to the one we destabilized.

The question should also be, why should they trust us?

They haven't trusted us since 1953, and with a hell of a better rationale than we have for not trusting them.

Of course, that requires actually looking at a situation from another nation's point of view. Something no U.S. administration is capable of doing.

The current one seems to be trying, amid the "appeasement" sloganeers.

Israel will have the final say in this. Just wait.

It’s harder to end a war than begin one. Indeed, everything that American troops have done in Iraq -– all the fighting and all the dying, the bleeding and the building, and the training and the partnering -– all of it has led to this moment of success. Now, Iraq is not a perfect place. It has many challenges ahead. But we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was elected by its people. We’re building a new partnership between our nations. And we are ending a war not with a final battle, but with a final march toward home.

This is an extraordinary achievement, nearly nine years in the making. And today, we remember everything that you did to make it possible.

Did you expect him to say this:

"Iraq is a shitshow created by the guy you sorta elected before me and thanks to the Pottery Barn-style rule created by one of his brain dead minions, we've been stuck there for no reason for the last nine years. But, hope is here, and thanks to installing the appearance of normality, we're getting the fuck and not looking back."
