Didn't hear any details on my end. I'm just hoping anyone who's let go has enough time to land on their feet.

My understanding is, when you get laid off, you lose the 401k match anyway.

Think we're past that point. Nowadays, when you get let go, you land on your ass -- hard! -- and then you roll a few times, bang your head, cut your lip, scrape your knees, wrench your back and collapse face down in gravel. Then, maybe, if this recession breaks by 2010, you slowly and with great trepidation get back on your feet. And wonder if you can afford a new suit for a job interview that might never come.

McClatchy was notified Wednesday that it has been marked for delisting from the NYSE. It has six months to fix it before delisting occurs.

How bad off is McClatchy? Apparently it has hurt people more than the notorious Bernie Madoff, at least according to the Minneapolis newspaper's veteran sports columnist, who was a Madoff victim:

Star Tribune sports columnist Sid Hartman is on the list, as is businessman and casino entrepreneur Lyle Berman. Hartman wouldn't disclose exactly how much he lost.

"Madoff was peanuts compared to the money I lost on McClatchy [newspaper] stock that I was stupid enough to hold until the end," he said.

i'm not sure how old you are, joe, but i still have the time (barely) to GTFO of this business, get another job with a retirement and put my feet up when i'm 67.

needless to say, i'm laying the groundwork. i hope you can do the same.

Don't worry, Nancy Pelosi's stimulus bill is going to save our industry. I"m sitting here eyes closed and hand out and open, waiting for that ticket to lifetime security to float so gently into my hand.

After all, this is a stimulus, bill, right? Where's my piece of the pie? Oh, I forget, my piece is going to someone else.

    Never mind.

Why so ticked off. Tom? Gear it down, man. I'm only stating what about 200 million folks are feeling right now, across party lines.

i'm not ticked off, clutch. i'm simply pointing out a fact.

pelosi had nothing to do with this. i don't see the point of drawing politics into this discussion.

So if I had blamed Bush or Cheney, you still would have had the same profane response? Why so angry? There's all kinds of stuff written on this site that goes all over the map. So what? I just don't get a kick out of writing an opinion that ties into what's being discussed here and get something akin to an FU in response.

Boy, am I excited. I just noticed on here that I had caught and now passed Mel Ott on the HR list.
