    I think what makes it such an upset is the path he followed to get to the Tour. I mean, he's from freakin' Iowa.

    While true that Micheel and Hamilton and Curtis are more unlikely winners than Johnson, Zach did hold off Tiger Woods, likely the greatest player of all time, which those other guys didn't. not to diminish their victories, but the difference here was the opponent, Woods, who eagled 13 and had everyone believing he was going to win and Zach was going to fall apart....besides their iowa backgrounds, that's what makes the fleck-hogan comparison legit. hogan was probably considered, in 1955, as the greatest of all time....anyway, the column was made more impressive by getting the small-time investor on the phone than by getting Fleck to blurt out a quickie quote.
