The mayor of Summerville, S.C., side-stepped the Freedom of Information Act. Why is that ironic? He's the former publisher of the Summerville, S.C., twice-a-week newspaper and previously worked, among other places, as a reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Full disclosure: As a 15-year-old cub sports reporter, I worked for Mr. Collins at a weekly newspaper.

    Or, is it hypocrisy?

A newspaper publisher not wanting to be open with information is SOP, not irony.

For him, it was just like that free advice, that he just couldn't take.
