I'm tired just from reading the correction. I can't imagine the length of the story. I wonder which was longer -- the correction or story.

It's as if the story was invented, fabricated. I've never heard of using anonymous Web quotes to support something in a story.

Does the Sun do its editing in-house or does it out-source it?
Does the Sun have any veteran copy deskers that would have caught some of the factual errors or have they dumped all the veterans in favor of cheaper newbies who might not be up with the history of the area?

Wow. I don't know what else to say.

I would find it hard to believe that the reporter responsible is still employed.

but shouldn't the copy editor who proofed it and the suit that approved the story also face some punishment?
