I just saw that myself. Made me chuckle. A bad slug can be just as fun as a bad headline.

You just beat me to it. Had it sent to me by a friend.

You know they have to be giggling as they send that stuff out.

Our old Atex system used to cut off slugs, so you couldn't read the whole thing until you opened the story.

    My two favs:

    1. CLINTONANAL (for Clinton Analysis)

    2. REDSNOT (for Cincinnati Reds Notes)

Yeah, our Sports wire was churning out all sorts of odd stories on Wednesday. There was the lesbian kiss at Safeco, the Wisconsin state athletic association banning shirtless fans from indoor (but not outdoor) sporting events, banned t-shirts at Utah St. that said "We're Proud of Our A" (that is, for Aggies), and a story about efforts to improve lead detection in venison. On the same day.

BC-Obit-Hillary gave me a bit of a start.

(When Sir Edmund Hillary passed away ... err, died ... err, bit it.)

    Outside of sports, sorry . . .

As a cub reporter at the Sacramento Bee in the late 1970s, the restaurant critic, Stan Gilliam, one had a sentence in a review that read " . . . and my wife's chicken breasts were scrumptious."
