    As if the second half of the season wasn't bad enough.

    All I wanted was a .500 season, was that really too much to ask for out of this team?

    Meanwhile, the Red Sox collect just one hit against Baltimore. The hit was a leadoff bunt single where the ball was thrown away.

    That's twice (at least) this year that the Pirates got all of one baserunner. Matt Cain one-hit them in April with the pitcher getting the only hit.

    They did have two baserunners tonight -- Barmes reached on an error and McCutchen walked.

    EDIT: Apparently they also had a couple baserunners against Verlander back in May.
