No, I'm suggesting it would be a HIPAA violation. At least under the interpretation used in my shop.

a media outlet isn't subject to hippa rules when reporting. the hospital, doctors, etc., would be but not the media covering the story.

A media outlet isn't but an employer can be.

Exactly. The media outlet in question is her employer.

an employer may be subject to other privacy issues but they are not usually considered "covered entities" when it comes to hipaa (a thousand lashes for not realizing i kept typing "hippa" before) regulations, which apply to health plans, health care clearinghouses and health care providers. From my understanding, an employer would only be considered a covered entity if they operate as a health plan, a provider or provide a self-insured health plan to employees, etc.

It was clearly government mind control caused by microwaves:

  11. or rather a transient ischemic attack (TIA), which is similar to a stroke but is merely a warning sign that the person is in danger of a stroke, often within months.
So the news organizations could say that it wasn't a stroke and they weren't lying

When I get a severe migraine, I can say some weird things. If that happens, though, I wouldn't be in any physical shape to stand in front of a camera.
