Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the fail, BYH and I are going to live BLOG! the American Top 40 XM rebroadcast from April 6, 1985.

It starts in about five minutes on XM 8. Three hours of pure stupidity.

I will say this ... if I walk away from this without getting some Murray Head I'm going to be disappointed.

This is going to be righteous.

I have an entire arm full of plastic bracelets and a headband on my, umm, head.

    I didn't have teh interwebs in 1985.

Can someone hold their rotary phone up to the radio?

Teena Marie's Lovergirl is our opening act.

She hit the top three earlier in 1985, I believe. In fact, she may even still be on the countdown.

Bubs, Hacky, I recognize your calls for help.

I may laugh at them, but I do recognize them.

No. 40: Why Can't I Have You? -- The Cars

Never fucking heard of it. Now I know why, this is dork-rock at its worst.

    Last week's top three:

3.) "Can't Fight This Feeling," REO Speedwagon
    2.) "Material Girl," Madonna
1.) "One More Night," Phil Collins

I think my voice just changed, and what are those hairs on my groin?

"Why Can't I Have You" by The Cars opens things up at no. 40, down seven spots from last week. Which was actually 23 years ago.

Bubbler, this was the last single off Heartbeat City.

Can you fucking believe Ric Ocasek married a supermodel? Paulina Provzcvjvck,aiads,alai-10 or something. Come back to us, Junkie!

How the fuck did Ric Ocasik drill his pants goblin into Paulina Porizkova (horrible spelling, I know) making dreck like this? This should never see the light of day again.

Casey is spinning a yarn about how DLR came up with California Girls. He said "Shazam!" that's it.

The song was falling off the countdown. Went as high as No. 3 as high as the Beach Boys original!

Give me a bottle of anything and a glazed donut ... TO GO, GO, GO!

David Lee Roth says shazaam. This is why his career is over.

It's down 16 notches. And Roth is saying he recorded this b/c he needed a song to fill out his solo album. IT WAS FOUR FUCKING SONGS LONG!!! AND THEY WERE ALL COVERS!! None of us has ever mailed it in as badly as DLR did with "Crazy From The Heat." Yet it did well enough for him to leave VH.

    These videos were great though.

Hey is it me or is Dave losing his hair?
