Northwestern's fake blood-stained US flag uniforms are disgusting

Between this and the NFL with all its pink stuff, it's like the local business who will donate $1,000 to charity ... but ONLY if the Podunk Press comes out to snap a picture.

I have no problem with giving to charity.

I can't stand marketing.

 

I love how folks are clamoring over Northwestern wearing this jersey when Boston College wore a similar one two years ago:



I don't remember a lot of people complaining about that.

 

The NFL Pink October thing does make you wonder what kind of dirt the Komen Foundation has on Goodell.

 

Nobody was on Twitter then...

 

The first week of the month was bad, but it seemed a lot of teams -- either by their own choice or league mandated -- had scaled back the pink by the end of the month. Hell, there were a lot of games the final two weeks with absolutely no pink being worn by either team, which was a welcome sight.

Now, the league is into what Paul Lukas likes to call "G.I. Joevember."

 

Well-worn flag my ass. The helmet in particular looks blood-streaked; I'll never be convinced that's not the look they were going for.

 

Hey, now quit bashing on a charity effort by Northwestern!

That's exactly what these "commemorative" uniforms are all about: Marketing. Because you can convince your fanbase they need to be wearing the same colors as the team is on the field that night. And you can convince them to buy a different colored shirt for every game as well.
