Forgive me for being an ass when I type this: "Damn you Bemidji Beavers!!

Seriously, their must be something constructive to do other than do a drive-by of the local paper.

Has that paper had any layoffs in the past year or so? I'm being serious when I ask.

I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet. Several suicides, nobody going postal yet. I'm not trying to be funny on any level.

No lay-offs that I know of.

The Bemidji Pioneer is owned by Forum Communications out of Fargo.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often, thankfully. Between the disgruntled laid-off employees, and just the regular people pissed off because you had the temerity to report that their husband got convicted of child abuse.

It was probably the parent of some kid the paper cost a scholarship.

I have to be counted among those whose first thought was someone who lost their job.

The building is a few miles south of town. I know the Forum has laid off production staff at the smaller papers in the past year. Bemidji also deals with a lot of hot-button American Indian issues.

Seems to me there was a tribal election not too long ago, but there hasn't been any hot-button Native issues lately.

It's true though, it's really a miracle this doesn't happen more often.
