The Rangers have made blocking shots an art from this year. personally I don't like it. I know it's within the rules but something seems cheap about it.

It's also dangerous. I think the NHL should outlaw it before someone gets killed.

How in the hell would you outlaw it?

Maybe a couple Rangers getting one in the head will make them think twice but you cannot outlaw it.

It can't be outlawed, since I'm sure a significant percentage of blocked shots are complete accidents.

Trent McCleary almost died after taking a shot in the throat in 2000. It's certainly dangerous, but guys were doing it before McCleary got hurt and they will be doing it as long as the game is played. It can be a thankless job but for a lot of guys I worked with, blocking shots is something they really took pride in.

The Rangers Capitals series took it to an all time level. 5 guys packed from the top of the circles down, all playing goal.

The London Knights won the OHL the same way, forcing the high-powered Niagara IceDogs to the outside. Whatever the forwards and D couldn't stop, Michael Houser handled.

The difference these days is that everybody including your stars are doing it.
