In fairness to Tom Tupa, he was actually a decent punter and had a good career (17 years in the NFL) once he stopped being a quarterback.
And Testaverde's best years were with the Jets.

Bob Davis wonders why he was forgotten

Had the Jets kept Tupa in that Patriots game they probably would have won.

Vinny's first run with the Jets was damn good. He was top five for MVP in 1998 wasn't he?

Babe Parilli was more of a Patriot but is willing to show if invited

Since he did not play QB he's not getting in.

My bad, I didn't know this was only about QB's. I thought it was about the general failure of the running of the Jets.

    Carry on.

No problem he is a better fit on "faiilure of Jet draft"

I've often found Tupa's career to be very interesting. He was a great punter and a decent QB at Ohio State, then he hardly did any punting in the NFL for the first few years. I've often wondered why he just didn't punt from the very beginning of his pro career.

It wasn't until he basically washed out of the league as a QB that he decided to have a second career as a punter. And he ended up having a very good career.

Eric Crouch Syndrome, perhaps? Maybe it took a while for him to realize what his best career path would be. And unlike Crouch, he was willing to make the adjustment.
As an aside, I always made it a point to sign Tupa whenever I played a dynasty in Madden. It was like a 2-for-1 deal. You get your punter, and a third-string QB for one low price.

Maybe that was it. Call it Tom Tupa Syndrome.

And while we've been mentioning Jets quarterbacks, here's another one:

    Believe it or not
    Jets once had a quarterback
    With name of Dick Wood
