The three other players - Robinson, Chappell, and Jones - were simply witnesses to the incident, so they have nothing to worry about legally.

As far as Nwigwe goes, it's usually standard policy not to discipline a student athlete until an actual ruling is handed down by the student judicial process and/or the local judicial system. That obviously hasn't happened. Nwigwe has simply been charged with the crime. He wasn't arrested and he hasn't been convicted.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of many student athletes that were suspended for being accused of something. Most cases of disciplinary action occur because of academics (proven, factual issues) or because of cases that have gone through the judicial process.

If this happens in December, it's a small story. The fact it happened the week of the NEC Tournament is what elevates it to the status it has received in the past 24 hours.

Mike Rice has been a strict disciplinarian in his two years as coach. But all of those actions occurred when he had an official ruling, whether it was academic issues or a violation of team rules. He doesn't have an official ruling here.

Oh, and the three local newspapers and their articles for this morning's papers:

I followed this saga today a little bit.
For what it is worth, Dunlap and the Post-Gazette had quotes from Mike Rice before anyone by at least an hour and the television stations royally screwed it up by misreporting facts.

Yeah, the television stations really did a disservice to the Pittsburgh media with the quality (or lack thereof) of their reporting.

That is the part that sucks though, no accountability.
No correction, no nothing. Local TV news gets it wrong and there is no accountability.

Well, given what they pass off as anchors in this market...
