No newspapers means no worries for coaches and teams

    No newspapers might mean that Major League baseball players might be able to use steroids and amass giant statistics and, though a little suspicious, no one will call them on.

    Newspapers also have broken the majority of major NCAA violation stories.

    Oh, please.
    If it were "all about what you see on SportsCenter," the only games with any attendance would be Yankees, Red Sox, Eagles (because SalPal lives there) and Cowboys.

    I know that the minor-league teams say that regular print coverage drives attendance.
    Print coverage provides the tip sheet for for radio, TV and internet coverage, so you get a ripple effect from print.
    If the teams don't get print coverage, ticket sales slip.
    My suspicion is that it is also true for big prep events, smaller colleges for all all sports and at the larger schools, the non-revenue sports.
