It's not that bad. I detest the taste of alcohol, so I spend nothing on that. And some store always has diet soda on sale.

Diet soda is the vegetarian fish of weight loss.

Alton Brown has a theory that heavy diet soda consumption raises your body's tolerance for sweet things.

I drink a lot of Diet Pepsi, but I used to drink a lot of Pepsi, and I've been racking my brain to try to think of when I changed that and why. Somehwere in my mid-20s. I figured I wouldn't be on a fast-track to diabetes, I guess, but I know that I prefer not having that cloying sugar aftertaste.

I find the fish vegetarian thing as funny as anyone.

Who would tell a vegetarian what they should be willing to eat, right?

Seems like people are less uncomfortable here telling religious people what THEY should be willing to do according to their beliefs.

    An interesting dichotomy.

You are the new Boom. Mazel tov.

It's your stunningly bad assessments of Newton and Wilson that keep me from ignoring your posts.

There was some obesity in America. Then they invented diet soda and obesity became an epidemic. Nice job, artificial sweeteners.

I've never understood the "diet soda makes people think they can pig out on other things" excuse for obesity.

You can consume "X" number of calories to maintain your weight. Diet soda means none of these calories is wasted on soda. That's the idea. And it works.

If you eat 3 pieces of chocolate cake with a diet soda and think you're "coming out even," you deserve to tip the scales at 300 pounds. It ain't the soda's fault.
