No-hitter alert

The Giants' Matt Cain is no-hitting the Padres through six. He's walked five, but struck out three. His team, however, has not scored, either. Chris Young is pitching a 3-hit shutout.

Damn, he's thrown 99 pitches, though.

Not much of a decision, but Cain is batting for himself.

  5. Isn't this a jinx?

Why was my last post deleted?

Don't know about the deletion. Not my turf.

We don't worry about jinxes here. The alerts have been known to help those on the desk plan (in case they missed or did not see an AP alert). You never know when someone is taking a break and checking out the board, only to find out something here first instead of on the wire.

    Greene just broke it up.

There was no deletion. I initially mistakenly started this thread on anything goes. When I realized this, I deleted that one and started one on sports and news.

    Damn jinx. 8)

Different desks in different time zones have different needs, of course, but when I was on the desk I preferred any heads-up to none at all. Contingencies. Always gotta have 'em, just in case.

  11. OK, but you owe me a post ;)

Isn't six innings a wee early for a no-hitter alert?
