    Unless he held a gun to the heads of the city councilmen, they weren't forced to give him that level of pay package. If he hasn't been fired or suspended without pay it seems to me that they have to pay him.

    There ain't a city council in America that gets a $100K a year.

    If you're a member of a city council, you shouldn't see the city as a gravy train to riches. It's just slimy.

    I completely agree. That said, a contract is a contract. This looks like a case of the esteemed councilmen trying to distract the rest of the city from the fact they're a bunch of fucking crooks.

    I agree with this. Yeah, he's a fucking sleeze, and so is the council, but you still owe him that money. Just cut the check, and try to get it back after you win (what should be) a slam dunk fraud case.

    In nearby El Segundo, policemen and firemen make around 200k a year.

    How many fires does the cesspool by the ocean have per year?

    2-3.
