I especially like the scene when Appolonia says "I know English. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday . . . "

But seriously . . . . mediocre movie, horrible performances from Prince, Appolonia, and Morris Day, but a great snapshot of its time.

    A perfect summation.

I remember it got a lot of three- and four-star reviews in 1984. Upon further review...why??! Prince could barely act like himself. But Lordy oh Lordy, Appalonia was a fucking 27 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Wait . . . I think they cut the "lake Minnetonka" sequence completely.

The wife, two minutes ago: "Then I guess he truly is a "PRINCE" and not a jerk to her at all in this version."

The wife, 30 seconds ago, after Prince slugs Appolonia (a scene she forgot about): "F$#%ing abusive bastard sonofabitch."

    The VH-1 version is horrible.

Rent the real thing for the true appreciation. :D

Speaking of which, NBC's version of 40 Year Old Virgin was nine kinds of awkward awesome for what little I watched of it.

Morris Day was the true star of that film. Damn that jealous little Prince.

I might go as far as to call Purple Rain the best soundtrack of all time...

I would second that the title track is Prince at his best
