Honestly. Marte had 31 saves from 2002-05 for the White Sox and another five for the Pirates this season.

In 51 games this season, he's gone less than an inning 11 times, though six of those appearances came by April 22. He's gone more than one inning nine times, which includes four two-inning appearances.

So yes, he's more than a left-handed specialist.

Well, as far as I can tell, he's a piece of shit.

Which is fine by me. Anything that helps the Rays extend their lead (or not see it shrink) in the AL East.

Since when do the Pirates need anything along the lines of a closer?

A little dose of Marte is good: see at-bat by Big Papi and the way he worked around the triple by Murphy in the eighth. But when you ask him to throw that many pitches and its obivous is control is off, then you're asking for trouble. He had Bradley at 0-2 and let him get away. At that point I'd have brought in Robertson.

And I don't disagree with going with anybody else. At worst you can cut Sexson and call up another pitcher.

Della, they were just using him the same way the Pirates had used him the last couple of years, at least until Capps got hurt this season. Maybe he just can't handle pitching for a contender.

He was a starter his whole lfe until a year ago.

    And what did Youkilis do?

Joba's pitches have a tendency to sail by his head, so I guess Youkilis isn't his biggest fan.
