Heineken Man is hung up on the voting margin,OOP. I still don't see what difference that makes. Finishing second is still finishing second.

Agreed. I thought it was a pretty easy decision. The numbers are too close for a guy whose team missed the playoffs to beat out a guy whose team won its division.

Despite the typical splits, Votto faired better on the road this year. Strange, but true.

    Votto in road games
    .349 19 HR .452 OB .641 SA OPS+ 207

    Pujols in road games
    .299 25 HR .392 OB .599 SA OPS+ 177

and for what its worth Carlos Gonzalez in road games
    .289 8 HR .322 OB .453 SA OP+ 118, a true Coors field player

Albert was better defensively, but Votto had the OB% and slugg% advantage.

This is a trolling effort, right?

Shit, this is the 21st century. Shouldn't the best player win it every now and ten?

Well, the best all-around baseball player was Cargo. Votto and Pujols were the best hitters (flip a coin) and Votto, whose team won a division, was the most valuable.

Votto is new to this level of performance and played for a team that made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. Pujols has been great for a decade and his team missed the playoffs. It's about the storyline.

So Votto's performance didn't merrit the MVP?

    Well done.

I believe Albert was from Mimico. :)
