It's interesting that the story doesn't give the name of the talk show host.

  2. Neither did another station last night.
    Weird.
    Talk radio.
A couple years without it would be just fine, thanks.

Were they loath to give the hater any publicity, or did they not want to receive the same threats as Ash?

    Blogosphere's on it:

Loved the quote from the parent on the superintendent having to know that people would be very angry with him. Someone tries to teach a different curriculum, let's have men in hooded gear come to his house and beat him up!

Was anyone else puzzled by the line from one angry parent?

"We can't be deterred by individuals that are attempting to intimidate teaching children to love one another and respect one another."

So teaching children to love one another and respect one another is a bad thing? WTF?

  8. Holy fuck, HAL TURNER?
The guy is an out-and-out South African-class white supremacist, near enough to a Nazi that he doesn't have to dial "1" to reach Goebbels. And, it should be noted, a onetime BFF of Sean Hannity, who's done his best to scrub that swastika off the ol' resume.

No, but I think if they'd written '...are attempting to intimidate those who teach children to love one another and respect one another,' it would have been clearer.

God, Hal Turner? Jeebus, I can't fathom why the story didn't name the guy, considering his craziness. I'd think that would be pretty pertinent information.

That's why I asked. Just finished listening to Jones' NPR interview, and he refused to name those Westboro Baptist nutjobs when he described the Patriot Guard. (Bravo for that, by the way.)

Was WBZ thinking, "We're not going to give that $&*! any free publicity"?

  12. We should not be in the business of witholding information because it "doesn't give them any publicity." jesus, this is Journalism 101.
