Nine-year-old just shot and killed... possibly by 2-year-old

Alternately, the gun could be locked up or somesuch thing.

Kids can survive bad parenting. Less likely to survive a .38 to the head.

Yeah, again, I don't think this is a case of people shouldn't be allowed to have guns, dumb people shouldn't be allowed to have guns.

If you own a gun you need to keep it locked up where kids can't get it. Maybe in a high closet or locked cabinet that a friggin' two year old cannot get to.

I bet the family had safety covers on the electric outlets.

I don't think the NRA is going to favor an IQ test in order to purchase a gun. That's going to cut sales quite a bit, don't you reckon?

Of course, the NRA is opposed to gun locks.

    • Mandatory Storage--NRA opposes requiring gun owners to install gun locks on all guns at home, which would prevent the use of guns for self-defense and be enforceable only by police home inspections.

I guess. But maybe they should.

You really need to get in for a CT scan, MRI... whatever you can.

You can always count on Simon for lucid, sane points on gun control.

And I say this as someone who has never owned a gun.

To this day, I have not heard one reasonable argument for not banning handguns.

Keep your rifles and your shotguns. Go hunting and shoot your little flying discs. Defend yourself from the out-of-control government when the time comes. But ban the handguns.

    Not one legit argument.

And no, "that means only the criminals would have them," is not a legit argument.

Because if the British come in the middle of the night, you better believe I want a handgun on my nightstand.
