The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking a Content Editor with strong digital skills to join its universal desk. The position has a sports emphasis, and candidates must be versatile, web-savvy and have the ability to perform efficiently under deadline while balancing digital and print duties.

This position requires you to think digital first, and strong copy editing skills are essential. The ideal candidate will work as part of a team of editors with the goal of producing and featuring our very best work in print and at JournalStar.com, assist in managing social media accounts and play a key digital role on Husker football gamedays and during other big events.

    Candidates must also:

    • Edit swiftly and thoroughly for accuracy and clarity
    • Make strong news judgments
    • Write strong and engaging headlines for web and print
    • Work with a team of editors to move content to our design center, and proof pages
    • Manage print sections several days a week (Duties include budgeting pages, picking photos, managing and brainstorming breakouts and info boxes)
This is an evening/night position, and requires one to work weekends. The Content Editor reports to the Night Editor and works closely with the Sports Editor and Assistant Sports Editor.

Lincoln is a growing capital city, and the Journal Star is in the middle of the action. We’re just blocks from a 15,000-seat downtown arena and a burgeoning entertainment district with bars, restaurants and music venues. Lincoln is also a hub on the Silicon Prairie, with dozens of software startups.

Lincoln has strong K-12 schools, a Big Ten university and cultural and recreational options.

The Journal Star offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan and paid time off. All applicants considered must pass a post-offer drug screen, background and DMV check prior to commencing employment. EOE.

Apply at www.journalstar.com/workhere. Please include a resume and cover letter describing how you would approach the job.

For additional information, contact Night Editor Pat Sangimino at 402-473-7391 or psangimino@journalstar.com.
