Nifty Smith piece on Gene Upshaw in this week's SI

    Can't find a link for this, but I'm starting to believe that there isn't one. Smith does a great job at presenting Upshaw in a balanced light: he's equal parts cold-hearted bastard and stern, but caring and compassionate leader. Whatever you think of Upshaw and how he's dealt with retired players, you finish the article with a better sense of Upshaw. Plus, I like the whole theme about ghosts that Smith uses. Not too big on putting him into the story a little, but that's just nit-picking off an overall well-done article.
