The team spelled it "Black Hawks" for years until the mid-80s when Wirtz noticed that the original club charter had it as all one word- "Blackhawks." So Wirtz changed it to all one word.

Portland has it as the Black Hawks.

    Portland's very hip and retro.

    Aren't they the Winterhawks?

    I did. My bad.

I think of them as the Three Musketeers.

Yeah, I think they're the Winter Hawks. But they use an "Indian Head" logo, not a bird.

Hey, WI, that first programme at the Gardens was a great find.

I wonder how much a mint condition copy of that would fetch.

Loved the cover art, with the boxing and wrestling.

Brings home the old point about hockey being brought southward to fill the northern arenas on those cold winter nights.

Interesting. So the team got it wrong originally, but corrected along the way and had it right until Dollar Bill read the charter. Oops. One more thing for Rocky to fix.

  10. But they should have stopped at NYC.
    Nashville? Tampa?

    The Original Six Rulz.

The SURVIVING Original Six, to be precise.

If you were curious about the flags of the teams, I think I've got this right ... (From left): New York Americans, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Maroons, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks (or Black Hawks), Detroit Red Wings and the Philadelphia Quakers (who were the Pittsburgh Pirates/Yellow Jackets before the team moved and subsequently folded). I would date this program from 1930.
