This has got to be the biggest sham ever.

East starters: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh), Alexei Kovalev, Andrei Markov, Mike Komisarek, Carey Price (all Montreal).

West starters: Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Brian campbell (all Chicago) Ryan Getzlaf, Scott Niedermayer, Jean-Sebastien Giguere (all Anaheim).

Only four teams (out of 30) represented and none of those four are even leading their own divisions. Good grief!!! Not a single Boston Bruin or San Jose Shark to be found anywhere?!?!?!

Alexei Kovalev over Alexander Ovechkin? No Jeff Carter or Mike Richards or Thomas Vanek?

Carey Price over Henrik Lundqvist, Tim Thomas and Marc-Andre Fleury?

Ryan Getzlaf over Marian Hossa and Henrik Zetterberg or Joe Thornton?

    Brian Campbell over Niklas Lidstrom?

Jean-Sebastien Giguere over Evgeni Nabakov and Niklas Backstrom?

This is a HUGE indictment of the fans! Either they don't know enough about the game or don't care. Not sure which is worse.

I'm boycotting if the league doesn't step in and fix this.

Canadian xenophobia at its finest! Though clearly Pittsburgh was able to overcome it.

Then again, who needs a stupid exhibition that ranks maybe third in the four major pro sports to decide just who the best hockey player is in the NHL?

I love hockey, but the all-star game isn't real hockey. There's no checking -- with the exception of when Jeremy Roenick is playing -- and the physical nature which is a huge part of the game isn't there at all.

. . . is a popularity contest and all about ballot stuffing.

Who cares who starts at the NHL all-star game? So, what, the first 30 seconds of the game have a silly lineup? It's not baseball. Starting means nothing.

The Wings could be the East starters. Yet, none of them are starting. What?

    This is the correct answer.

The Montreal fans made a big push to stuff the ballot box because the game is in Montreal on the team's milestone anniversary in the league (75th maybe? drawing a blank on that right now).

Of course, the NHL knew about this long before and didn't do anything to try and stop it.

    100th anniversary.

And Hank's right. It wasn't exactly a state secret that Habs fans were stuffing ballot boxes. About a month ago, the Habs had the leading vote-getters at every position.

The only problem there is that the Wings are in the Western Conference.

Yup. I'm a big hockey fan and could not care less about the fucking all-star game. Didn't vote, don't give a shit, likely will not watch.

The only all-star game worth a damn is baseball's and even that one is a lot less cool than it used to be.
